Government relaxes Work from Home rules for Tech Industry
In a move towards making India a Tech Hub, the government on Oct 5th announced a series of measures to facilitate permanent ‘Work from home’. The rules for Other Service Provider (OSP) which includes BPOs, KPOs, ITES, call centres and others, have been simplified.
Removal of frequent reporting, deposit of bank guarantees, requirement for static IPs, publication of network diagram, penal provisions and removal of other requirements that prevented ‘Work from Home’ before, will make it possible to work from home permanently. This will also reduce the compliance burdens and create an amicable environment for the future IT industry.
This is done to facilitate the ease of doing business and will also help create millions of jobs in small cities/towns. This is in an attempt to boost India’s competitive advantage and boost India’s position as a strategic hub in the world which will help in bringing more investments.
