Penalty under the Act Penalties for certain offences

Any employer who-

(a) pays to any employee less than the minimum rates of wages fixed for that employee’s class of work, or less than the amount due to him under the provisions of this Act, or

(b) contravenes any rule or order made under section 13, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both:

Provided that in imposing any fine for an offence under this section, the Court shall take into consideration the amount of any compensation already awarded against the accused in any proceedings taken under section 20.

And in this instance : In exercise of the powers conferred by Central Government vide Notification No. S.O. 186(E) dated 19th  January, 2Ol7 of the Ministry of Labour and Employment ,  the undersigned hereby revise the rates of Variable Dearness Allowance for the employees employed in Agriculture w.e.f. O1.O4.2O24 on the basis of the average Consumer Price Index for Industrial workers reaching 399.70 from 385.97 as on 31.12.2023 (Base 2016=100) and thereby resulting in an increase of 13.73 points. The revised Variable Dearness allowance shall be payable from O1.Q4.2024.

Also revised Variable Dearness Allowance for employees employed in employments in mining industry, construction and maintenance of roads, loading and unloading industry, sweeping and cleaning, watch and ward.
