Penalty under the Act: The Central Act treats all violation of the working hours, minimum wages and similar conditions as an offence. These are punishable by penalties which can take the shape of 10000 INR fine or five years of imprisonment.

And in this instance: The Government of Tamil Nadu revises the rates of Variable Dearness Allowance on the basis of the average consumer price index number for the calendar year 2022 in respect of various scheduled employments notified under the minimum wages act, 1948 with effective from 1/4/2023.
