Penalty under the Act: Section 22 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 an employer who fails to provide minimum rates of wages to the employees or contravenes any rule or order made under Section 13 of the Act shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or fine not less than five hundred rupees or both.
