Initially, the Act covered the apprenticeship training for the trade Apprentices. Subsequently, the Act was amended in 1973, 1986, and 2014 to bring the Graduates, Technician, Technician (Vocational), and Optional Trade Apprentices respectively under its purview and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 were revised in the year 2015.
Karma Global’s Auditors while carrying out entity audits for its clients maintains the lawful position that the apprentice’s act should be taken seriously and that the percentage quota for giving training to candidates must be fulfilled to be compliant. In this instance, the Government has extended the duration of training for optional trade specifically automotive, to 2 years from the earlier period of one year.
