Mangaluru EPF Office sets up a help desk for PMSYM Yojana

MANGALURU: The Regional PF Commissioner’s office here has set up a help desk in the EPF Office to help marginal labourers regarding Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PMSYM) Yojana, a voluntary contributory Pension Scheme formulated by the Government of India for unorganized Sector workers to the Scheme. Besides, Special Camps will be organized on the premises of major establishments with their support, stated a release from N Gopalakrishnan, Regional PF Commissioner-I.

The Commissioner has requested all employees of the unorganized Sector, who meet the eligibility criteria, to visit the nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) and enroll in the Scheme.

The help desk available at EPFO Office, Mangaluru, will provide necessary guidance. A Toll-free number 1800 267 6888 can also be contacted to clear any doubts/issues regarding the Scheme.

Any unorganized worker in the age group of 18-40 years, whose job is casual in nature, with a monthly income of less than Rs 15,000 can enroll in this Scheme. The worker should not be covered under any statutory social security schemes such as the National Pension Scheme (NPS), the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Scheme, the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme and is not an income tax payee.

If any unorganized worker subscribes to the Scheme and has paid regular contributions up to the age of 60 years, he will get a minimum monthly pension of Rs. 3000. After his/her death, the spouse will receive a monthly family pension which is 50% of the pension. Once the beneficiary joins the Scheme at the entry age between 18-40 years, he has to contribute till he attains the age of 60 years. The pension will start upon attaining the age of 60 years of the subscriber.

The subscriber can visit the nearest CSC and get enrolled for PM-SYM using an Aadhar number and savings bank account/Jan-Dhan account number on a self-certification basis. No separate proof of age or income has to be given. Self Certification and providing of the Aadhaar number will be the basis for enrollment. LIC will be the fund manager and will also be the service provider for pension payout. The fund is 100% secure. The overall responsibility of managing and supervising the fund will be with the National Social Security Board which is functional under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour and Employment.
