The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoL&E) on December 15, 2022, issued a notification to declare services of the industries engaged in manufacturing Alumina and Aluminium and Mining of Bauxite to be public utility services.
The following has been stated namely: –
- In the exercise of powers under the Industrial Disputes Act of 1947, the Central Government declared the services of the said industries to be public utility services.
- This shall be for a period of six months with effect from December 15, 2022.
In this specific instance, the Central Government has notified that public interest so requires that the services of the industries engaged in manufacturing of alumina and Aluminium and Mining Bauxite, be declared to be public utility services for a period of 6 months which has now been extended further for a period of 6 months from the date of this publication.
