Non-payment of this contribution is a serious offense because it directly affects insurable employees. Hence, the maximum imprisonment for this offense is 3 years and the minimum is 6 months with Rs. 5,000 as fine.

As per the directions of MoL&E, it has been decided that the e-Pehchaan card must be given to all insured Persons immediately after registration. Hence, all ROs/SROs are directed to issue suitable directions to all the employers under their jurisdiction to download e-Pehchaan card from ESI Portal and hand it over to their respective employees/ Insured Persons immediately after registration under the ESI Scheme and also ensure that hard copy of e-Pehchaan Card must be given to all existing lPs also, by the employers
