The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) has notified that Aadhaar authentication of enterprises to be performed on voluntary basis via issuing Notification.

And in the current instance: Whereas Rule 3 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social, Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules 2020 (referred to as the Aadhar Authentication Rules) empowers the central Government (in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology) to allow aadhaar  authentication by requesting entities in the interest of good governance , preventing leakage of public funds, promoting ease of living of residents, and enabling better access to services for them, specified therein.

And whereas the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises submitted a proposal as required under rule 4 of the Aadhaar Authentication Rules to the Central government and the said Central government vide its communication dated 28th March 2023 has authorized the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to perform Aadhaar Authentication for the purposes mentioned therein.

And in the last instance: The MSME Awards celebrated the success and resilience of the sector by recognising the exceptional performance of such enterprises in various categories.

Talking about how the government has ensured MSMEs chart their way ahead successfully, Union MoS for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma said the government has given out approximately Rs 3.7 lakh crore out of the Rs 5 lakh crore earmarked for the sector under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS).

Aadhaar authentication of enterprises to be performed on voluntary basis: Ministry of MSME

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) has notified that Aadhaar authentication of enterprises to be performed on voluntary basis via issuing Notification.

Whereas, rule 3 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the Aadhaar Authentication Rules) empowers the Central Government (in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to allow Aadhaar authentication by requesting entities in the interest of good governance, preventing leakage of public funds, promoting ease of living of residents and enabling better access to services for them, for the purposes specified therein.

And whereas, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises submitted a proposal as required by rule 4 of the Aadhaar Authentication Rules to the Central Government and the said Central Government vide its communication dated the 28th March, 2023 has authorised the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to perform Aadhaar authentication for the purposes mentioned therein.

Now, therefore, in pursuance of rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication Rules, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, having been authorised by the Central Government, hereby notifies that Aadhaar authentication of enterprises shall be performed, on voluntary basis, using Yes/No authentication facility, during the process of registration of owners of informal micro enterprises on its digital platform, to facilitate access for availing of priority sector lending

This notification shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
