Penalty under the Act: Whoever, for the purpose of avoiding any payment to be made by himself under this Act [the Scheme, the [Pension] Scheme] or the Insurance Scheme] or of enabling any other person to avoid such payment knowingly makes or causes to be made any false statement or false representation shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine of five thousand rupees, or with both].

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 13 of the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 (19 of 1952), the Central Government hereby appoints the persons holding the posts specified in column (2) of the following Table in the corresponding office specified in column (3) thereof, to be Inspectors for the purposes of the said Act, the Scheme, the Pension Scheme or the Insurance Scheme, having jurisdiction in respect of the factories and other establishments to which the said Act applies and which are situated in the corresponding area specified in column (4) of the said Table
