Penalty under the Act: (a) Pays to any employee less than the minimum rates of wages fixed for that employee’s class of work, or less than the amount due to him under the provisions of this Act or
(b) Contravenes any rule or order made under section 13 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both

And in this instance: Tamil Nadu Government Gazette [Part II—Sec. 2] Notifications by Government Notice. In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 3 and sub-section (2) of Section 5 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (Central Act XI of 1948) and in supersession of the Labour and Employment Department Notification No.II(2)/LE/646/2019 published at page Nos. 723 to 734 of Part II Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 7th August 2019, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, hereby revises the minimum rates of wages payable to the classes of employees in the employment in Handloom Silk Weaving Industry in the State of Tamil Nadu, as specified in column (4) of the Schedule below, in respect of the type of work specified in the corresponding entries in column (2) thereof.
