Tripura minimum wages effective 1st October 2023

Penalty under the Act

(a) Pays to any employee less than the minimum rates of wages fixed for that employee’s class of work, or less than the amount due to him under the provisions of this Act or (b) Contravenes any rule or order made under section 13, the Central Act treats all violation of the working hours, minimum wages and similar conditions as an offence. These are punishable by penalties which can take the shape of 10000 INR fine or five years of imprisonment. The appropriate government can appoint a labour commissioner, an officer having experience as a Stipendiary Magistrate judge, a Commissioner for Workmen’s Compensation or an officer ranked above a Labour Commissioner to process the complaints lodged.

The Tripura State Government hereby revises the Variable Dearness Allowance based on 6 monthly average consumer price index numbers for the period commencing from 1/1/2023 to and ending on 30/6/2023.  The variable dearness allowance shall be payable with effect from 1/10/2023 by the employers to the workers/employees employed in the specified employment.
